HD Hyundai Chemical,
a joint venture between HD Hyundai Oil Bank and Lotte Chemical
HD Hyundai Chemical was established from a strategic joint venture between HD Hyundai Oilbank and Lotte Chemical on May 20, 2014.
We are launched as a form of joint venture in order to meet MX de mands of both HD Hyundai Oilbank and Lotte Chemical for their BTX plants, and to seek profitability from growing global demands.
The ownership of HD Hyundai Chemical has been split 60-40 between HD Hyundai Oilbank and Lotte Chemical. At an estimated cost of 1.2 trillion KRW, our plants have been built over the area of 260,000㎡ within the HD Hyundai Oilbank plant site in Daesan, Chungcheongnam-do.
Moreover, the construction of petrochemical Plant valued at 3.1 trillion Won for manufacturing petrochemical products such as polyethylene and polypropylene, etc is completed on March, 2022 and diversifies petrochemical products portfolio.
Global petrochemical company with
a competitive edge
HD Hyundai Chemical is manufacturing petroleum products such as LPG, naphtha, kerosene and diesel, etc., and petrochemical products such as MX and benzene, etc. using condensate as the raw material, and also manufacturing petrochemical products such as polyethylene and polypropylene, etc. after the completion of HPC Project.
HPC, unlike the competitors who use naphtha as the main raw material, has secured high cost competitiveness in comparison to the competitors by using Treated De-Asphalted Oil and by-product gas, etc., which are cheaper than naphtha, as the raw materials.
Majority of products and by-products that HD Hyundai Chemical manufactures are sold to HD Hyundai Oil Bank and Lotte Chemical, which are the stockholders, and HD Hyundai Cosmo, a subsidiary company of HD Hyundai Oil Bank, under contract, thereby having secured stable revenue base and outstanding competitive advantages.
As the first joint venture established by a domestic refinery and a petrochemical company, HD Hyundai Chemical will keep evolving into a global petrochemical company with cooperation between both companies.
