Polyethylene (PE)

Product Features

Ethylene is the simplest olefin for which polymerizing is possible by using initiator or catalyst. If ethylene is polymerized, it becomes polyethylene. Transition metal catalyst such as Ziegler-Natta catalyst is the most widely used polymerizing catalyst in the industry. However, quantity of PE manufactured by using single activation point catalyst and metallocene catalyst, etc. is also displaying tendency of continued increase. Polyethylene is the most inexpensive substance among all the key synthetic polymers and is used by being processed diversely due to its outstanding chemical resistance. Polyethylene manufactured in commercial reactor is in the formats of white powder or particle, which is then turned into pellet format by using additives after having been melted.

Product Applications

Polyolefin including low density (LDPE), high density (HDPE) and linear low density (LLDPE) accounts for 38% of the total quantity of general purpose plastics manufactured throughout the world at 257 million tons per annum. It is used in a broad range of molding and extrusion application areas including household and food containers, toys, packaging film and sheet, and pipe, etc.

Polypropylene (PP)

Product Features

Propylene is the second simplest olefin, next to ethylene. It is polymerized by means of catalyst and is divided largely into 3 types, namely, single polymer, randomized copolymer and impacted copolymer. Its utilization is increasing due to characteristics including higher strength, higher melting point, more outstanding chemical resistance and lighter weight in comparison to other polymers.

Product Applications

It is being used in highly diversified application areas including vehicle components, carpet fiber, food container, toy, construction material and transparent film, etc. Based on a single category, single polymer PP is the largest plastic market with the overall global demands reaching 70 million tons.

Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate copolymer (EVA)

Product Features

Polymer products obtained by copolymerizing ethylene and vinyl acetate monomer are referred to as EVA. Transparency and melting point, etc. of the final product differ depending on the contents of vinyl acetate. It has the characteristic of having lower melting point and increased density as well as increased flexibility with increase in the vinyl acetate contents.

Product Applications

EVA accounts for the highest market share in the Hot Melt Adhesive market. Recently, it is used extensively as the raw material for envelop used to protect the modules necessary for solar power generation against adverse elements of external exposure. In addition, it is applied for highly diversified areas including manufacturing of shoe cabinet, agricultural film, interim material for multilayered film, additive and vibration prevention material, etc.
