Mixed-Xylene
Product Features
Xylene is a colorless transparent volatile liquid with an aromatic odor. It has a structure of two methyl groups (CH3) that are attached to a benzene ring (C6H6). Depending on the location of the methyl groups, there are three isomers; ortho-, meta- and para-xylene. For industrial purpose, it is commonly referred as mixed-xylene including ethyl-benzene.
Product Applications
Mixed-xylene is used in the production of para-xylene, ortho-xylene and meta-xylene as well as paints and solvent for pesticide.
Para-xylene is widely used in the petrochemical industry as a raw material for polyester fibers, films and PET bottles after being converted to TPA (terephthalic acid) and DMT (dimethyl terephthalate) in a petrochemical plant. Ortho-xylene is used mainly in the production of phthalic anhydride, a raw material of plasticizer, as well as for maleic anhydride and solvents. Meta-xylene is used in the manufacture of modified polyester fiber and a raw material of UPR resin, PIA (high-purity isophthalic acid).
Benzene
Product Features
Benzene is a colorless to pale yellowish liquid and highly flammable with a unique aromatic odor. Benzene is produced through the BTX process, and must be handled with care due to its toxicity to the human body.
Product Applications
Benzene, as one of the most important basic products among aromatic-based products, is a raw material used in the production of various products including synthetic resin (polystyrene, polyester, phenol), polycarbonate, detergents, pharmaceuticals, perfumes, coating and painting of synthetic fibers and solvent for pharmaceuticals.
